How to Make Dua
The etiquette and method of supplication
The Power of Dua
Dua (supplication) is one of the most powerful acts of worship. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Dua is worship” (Tirmidhi). Allah loves to hear His servants call upon Him.
“And your Lord says, ‘Call upon Me; I will respond to you.'”
— Quran 40:60
Etiquette of Making Dua

Best Times for Dua
- Last third of the night (Tahajjud time) – Allah descends to the lowest heaven
- Between Azan and Iqama – dua is not rejected
- During prostration (sujood) – closest to Allah
- Last hour of Friday – a moment when dua is accepted
- While fasting – especially before iftar
- During rain

Three Responses to Dua
The Prophet ﷺ said every dua is answered in one of three ways:
- Allah gives you what you asked for
- Allah averts a harm from you equivalent to your dua
- Allah saves the reward for you in the Hereafter
